Not a Consumer Reporting Agency. This website is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA, 15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq.). The information here, and on any third-party tool linked from this site, may not be used to make decisions about credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA.
Accuracy of Information
Government offices change phone numbers, hours, addresses, fees, and procedures without much notice. The Clay County Circuit Clerk, the Recorder of Deeds, the County Clerk, and the Sheriff's Office all update procedures from time to time. Missouri Case.net and the Seventh Judicial Circuit's web pages also change. We do our best to keep our pages current, but we cannot guarantee that every detail on this site is correct at any given moment. Before you visit the James S. Rooney Justice Center in Liberty or send a payment, call the office directly to confirm.
Not Legal Advice
Nothing on this site is legal advice. We point you to resources and explain how things generally work in Clay County and the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Missouri, but a website cannot replace a licensed Missouri attorney. For legal advice on a specific case, contact a lawyer or one of the legal aid organizations listed on our records pages.
Third-Party Search Tools
Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party companies. We do not control what those tools return, how they price their services, or how they handle data you submit. Results may not match what is currently on file with the Circuit Clerk or the Sheriff.
Outbound Links
We link to Missouri court portals, the Clay County Sheriff's Office site, the Circuit Court's pages, Recorder of Deeds and County Clerk pages, state agencies, and other resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any external site.
No Records on This Site
This site does not host any court records, jail rosters, warrant data, marriage records, divorce records, probate files, or vital records. We point you to the offices that do hold those records, mainly the Clay County Circuit Clerk, the Recorder of Deeds, the County Clerk, and the Sheriff's Office. To get an actual document, you have to request it from the issuing office. Certified copies bear the seal of the Missouri court or office that issued them.
Public Records Under Missouri Law
The records we point users to are governed by Missouri statutes and judicial rules, not by this site. The Missouri Sunshine Law (Chapter 610 RSMo) sets the baseline rule that public records are open except as otherwise provided by law. Court records also fall under Missouri Supreme Court Operating Rule 2. Some records, including juvenile cases, adoptions, mental-health files, and expunged records under RSMo 610.140, are closed. The agency that holds the record decides what to release. We do not make those decisions.
